Every session starts with a quick five-minute review of the previous lesson — because retention matters as much as new content.
When your child arrives at our teal-modern learning room on Nyali Road, the first thing on the board is always the session objective — one clear statement of what they'll be able to do by the end of that hour. The tutor then works through new material using the Kenyan curriculum as the spine, supplementing with worked examples drawn from past KCSE and KCPE papers where these illuminate the concept better than the textbook alone. Group sessions cap at four students so that the tutor can check comprehension individually at least twice per lesson. At the close, the student completes a five-question exit check; the tutor logs the result and shares it with parents in the monthly progress note.
What's included in every session
No filler content — every minute of each session is mapped to a curriculum outcome.
Diagnostic entry assessment
Every new student completes a 30-minute diagnostic before their first paid session. We identify knowledge gaps by topic, not by year level, so the tutor knows exactly where to begin — not where the school's syllabus says they should be.
Groups of four or fewer
We deliberately cap every session group at four students. This keeps the pace manageable, allows the tutor to correct individual misconceptions in real time, and maintains the family-run atmosphere that distinguishes us from larger commercial centres.
Written monthly progress notes
After every four sessions, parents receive a written note covering topics covered, exit-check scores, and the specific areas to focus on before the next block. No vague summaries — each note references the student's actual answers.
Same-day WhatsApp access
Our tutors are reachable by WhatsApp on teaching days for questions that can't wait until the next session. We respond within three hours during operating hours — no ticket system, no middleman.
Subjects we cover — and those we don't
We're strong in STEM and humanities up to A-level; we refer out for vocational subjects that require specialist facilities.
Our tutor team covers Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Kiswahili, Geography, History, and Business Studies from Grade 1 through Form Six. We also support IGCSE and Cambridge A-level students in the same subjects. We do not currently offer Art, Technical Drawing, or Agriculture tutoring — these require equipment and workspace we don't have at Nyali Road. If a parent asks about a subject outside our range, we'll say so clearly and, where possible, refer them to a specialist we trust. Honest scope limits are part of how we keep quality high for the subjects we do teach.
“My son was failing Chemistry in Form Three and I was worried he'd have to repeat the year. After two terms of weekly sessions at Tutorpathv, he passed his mock KCSE with a C+. The tutor actually explained the ionic bonding topic four different ways until it finally clicked — that patience was something his school teacher just didn't have time for.”
